El Comité Blue Ribbon del Senado reanuda este lunes 8 de junio su investigación sobre la supuesta corrupción en proyectos de control de inundaciones, bajo el nuevo presidente, el senador Erwin Tulfo.

La audiencia marca el primer asunto legislativo oficial para el bloque de 12 miembros liderado por el presidente interino del Senado, Sherwin Gatchalian, tras los cambios en el liderazgo la semana pasada. Tulfo convocó a 18 supuestos intermediarios, en su mayoría exmilitares, quienes testificaron en un procedimiento el 4 de junio liderado por la facción de Cayetano. Gatchalian describió el evento anterior como extraoficial y carente de validez legal o personal del Senado. Instó a los 18 hombres a asistir a la audiencia de hoy para sustentar sus denuncias sobre sobornos en proyectos de control de inundaciones. También fue invitado el expresidente de la Cámara de Representantes, Martin Romualdez. El contratista de control de inundaciones Curlee Discaya, bajo custodia del Senado, será entregado hoy a la Policía Nacional de Filipinas y no está invitado a la audiencia.
