El ministro del Interior Fernando Grande-Marlaska activó el nivel 3 de emergencia de interés nacional en la Comunidad de Madrid y la provincia de Ávila durante la madrugada del viernes tras la petición de Isabel Díaz Ayuso.

La declaración se produjo alrededor de las 00:20 horas del viernes 23 de julio de 2026. El Gobierno central asumió el mando de las operaciones de extinción de los incendios activos en Villa del Prado, San Martín de Valdeiglesias y Burgohondo.

El jefe de la Unidad Militar de Emergencias dirige las operaciones bajo la coordinación del Ministerio del Interior. Las autoridades advirtieron de condiciones meteorológicas adversas que complican las labores de extinción.
