Dominique Harrison, 28, appeared in court Monday on charges she murdered her newborn son in 2018 by placing the infant alive in a remote Danbury dumpster.
Police say Harrison gave birth to the boy and discarded him while he was still alive, hoping the body would not be found. Stamford officers discovered the remains in 2018 and later determined the death occurred in Danbury.
Harrison was arrested last week. At her arraignment, Deputy Assistant State's Attorney Mary Caitlin Harding described the case as showing "a level of depravity that is nearly inconceivable" and said the facts allege Harrison placed the newborn "alive in a dumpster in a remote area so that no one could save that baby's life."
Defense attorney Ryan McGuigan argued Harrison is not a danger to the public, citing her community involvement and steady employment. A judge set bond at $2.5 million. Harrison is scheduled to return to court on July 31.
