Selvitys SOU 2026:43 ehdottaa uutta maksujärjestystä kuluttajasaataville. Maksujen tulisi ensin lyhentää pääomaa ja vasta viimeisenä kohdistua korkoihin ja maksuihin. Cecilia Hegethorn Mogensen, vt. valtakunnanulosottaja, kertoo noin 100 000 ihmisellä olleen asioita ulosotossa 20 vuotta tai pidempään. Hän kutsuu heitä ikivelallisiksi. Velkajärjestelyjakson ehdotetaan lyhenevän viidestä vuodesta kolmeen vuoteen. Velkajärjestelyä koskevien muutosten on määrä astua voimaan 1. heinäkuuta 2028 ja uuden maksujärjestyksen 1. tammikuuta 2031.
