Team Cherry released a patch for Hollow Knight, its nine-year-old Metroidvania game, fixing a lingering hitbox issue in the Radiance's final boss orb attack. The update also adds Traditional Chinese language support and includes various bug fixes. This comes ahead of the studio's planned final significant update for Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Team Cherry surprised fans by issuing a patch for Hollow Knight rather than its sequel, Hollow Knight: Silksong. The key change addresses the Radiance's orb attack, where the hitbox was lingering slightly longer than intended if the orb expired in the air. This adjustment should ease one of the toughest challenges in the game's climactic fight, nine years after Hollow Knight's initial release. Other fixes cover issues like low inventory audio volume, text alignment overlaps, and overcharmed notches being removed unintentionally. Additional corrections include Mawlurks being pushable by Infected Balloons, Mantis Traitors taking damage underground, and problems with Journal notifications and Hunter's note kills. The patch also resolves Baldur Shell lingering, incorrect double damage audio, and Heavy Fool's incomplete dash attacks, alongside performance improvements and small fixes. Team Cherry emphasized close collaboration with translators to ensure lore accuracy in the new Traditional Chinese translation, maintaining consistency with the Simplified Chinese version. Silksong's German script received tweaks as well. This update precedes the studio's last major Silksong patch before the free Sea of Sorrows expansion, set for release this year with new nautical areas, bosses, and tools.
