Big Truck, the new band led by Soft Play’s Laurie Vincent, has announced its debut album Midday At The Middleway along with the release of new single Collided.
The album is scheduled for release on August 28 through Marshall Records. It follows the earlier single Central Reservation Blues and features 11 tracks including Polyester Vibrations (and the Handstand Currency), Surf The Suffering, and Keep On Trucking.
Vincent is joined in the band by Sam Coppins on drums, Asa Thallon on guitar, and Justin Myles on keys. The group formed around a friendship that began in the Tunbridge Wells music scene two decades ago.
Vincent described Collided as one of his favourites from the record. “My musicianship is quite untrained, and I didn’t even realise I was writing it in 6/8 time,” he said. Coppins added that the song offers “a snapshot into how good Laurie is”.
Big Truck is set to play a series of live dates starting June 19 in Manchester and June 20 in Liverpool, with further shows planned through August.
