The 3rd Civil Court of the Capital in Rio de Janeiro ruled that Clarice Jay Piovesan deposit R$ 5,000 monthly into court for rent of the Ipanema apartment where she currently resides. The deadline for the first payment is five days after notification, as reported by journalist Ancelmo Gois.
Stênio Garcia's defense hailed the order as a "partial victory". The 94-year-old actor argues the property, transferred to daughters Cássia, 52, and Gaya Piovesan, 51, when they were minors, includes clauses granting him lifelong usufruct, including rental income. The couple separated in 1983.
In April, Stênio filed a criminal complaint against his ex-wife and daughters to recover the apartment. He also seeks R$ 200,000 in damages and accuses the heirs of affective and material abandonment. The daughters accuse their father of hiding assets.
Stênio and his current wife, Marilene Saade, say they face financial hardship since 2020, when he ended his fixed contract with TV Globo. A police inquiry into alleged affective abandonment continues at the Elderly Police Station, with the actor's defense seeking to formalize a lawsuit.
