Nagpapalabas ng P10-bilyong tulong ang DA sa mga magsasaka at mangingisda

Sinimulan na ng Department of Agriculture ang paglalabas ng P10-bilyong cash assistance para sa halos 4.17 milyong rehistradong manggagawa sa agrikultura sa ilalim ng Presidential Assistance for Farmers and Fisherfolk Program. Makakatanggap ng P2,325 bawat isa ang mga magsasaka at mangingisda dahil sa pagtaas ng gastos sa produksyon dahil sa epekto ng digmaan sa gitna ng US-Israel at Iran. Ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., ito ay lifeline para sa mga apektado ng mataas na presyo ng petrolyo.

Nagdeklara ang Department of Agriculture na magsisimula ang paunang bayad ng tulong na ito ngayong linggo, na nagsisimula sa mga producer at mangingisda sa Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Western Visayas, at Zamboanga Peninsula.

Kasama sa mga benepisyaryo ang mga magsasakang palayan na nag-aararo ng dalawang ektarya at pababa, pati na rin ang mga magsasaka ng mais at tubo sa ilalim ng Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA). Ang mga mangingisdang rehistrado sa National Program for Municipal Fishing Vessels and Gears Registration (BoatR) at RSBSA ay makakatanggap din.

Ipinapamahagi ang tulong sa pamamagitan ng Interventions Monitoring Cards na pwedeng gamitin para sa pag-withdraw ng cash, ATM, at online banking. “This financial assistance, while admittedly small, provides a lifeline for over 4.1 million Filipino farmers and fisherfolk hit hard by soaring petroleum product prices,” ani Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.

Dagdag pa ng ahensya, “The support can provide short-term relief, but it does not address longer-term issues such as high input costs, limited access to financing and exposure to climate related risks.” Layunin ng programa na mapabuti ang cash flow sa mga rural communities at maiwasan ang pagkaantala sa lokal na produksyon ng sakahan dahil sa diesel-dependent na makinarya.
