Drilon nagbabala laban sa pagtatago ng ebidensya sa paglilitis kay VP Duterte

Binalaan ni dating Senate President Franklin Drilon na maaaring magdulot ng kaguluhan ang anumang pagtatangka na itago ang ebidensya sa nalalapit na impeachment trial ni Vice President Sara Duterte.

Sa isang pahayag noong Biyernes, inihalintulad ni Drilon ang sitwasyon sa 2001 impeachment trial ni dating Pangulong Joseph Estrada. Noon, tinanggihan ng 11-10 boto ng mga senador na buksan ang tinatawag na “second envelope” na pinaniniwalaang naglalaman ng karagdagang ebidensya.

Kumpirmado naman ni Senate Secretary Renato Bantug noong Sabado na magbubukas ang paglilitis sa Hulyo 6. Kasama sa mga paratang laban kay Duterte ang maling paggamit ng P612.5 milyon sa confidential funds at iba pang isyu.

Nagpahayag din ng pag-aalala ang mga grupo ng lipunan tungkol sa posibleng pagtatago ng ebidensya. Binigyang-diin nila na dapat manatiling transparent ang proseso upang mapanatili ang tiwala ng publiko.
