Mambabatas, matibay na kaso ng impeachment laban kay Sara Duterte

Naniniwala ang San Juan Rep. Bel Zamora na may matibay na ebidensya ang House committee on justice para sa impeachment laban kay Bise Presidente Sara Duterte at makakakuha ng sapat na boto para sa Senate trial. Ayon sa kanya, umabot sa 106 boto ang kailangan at may ganito silang bilang. Naghain na rin ng petisyon ang kampo ni Duterte sa Supreme Court upang pigilan ang proseso.

Sa isang news forum, sinabi ni Zamora, vice chairman ng justice committee, na "I believe we have the numbers." Aminado siya na may mga kinakampunan ang ilang kasama niya tungkol sa ebidensya, ngunit matibay daw ang kaso. "Yes. I admit that some may have dilly-dallied... because the next election is coming," aniya.

Ipinaliwanag niyang probable cause lamang ang tinutukoy ng committee hearings, katulad ng preliminary investigation. Pinuna rin niya ang petisyon ng legal team ni Duterte sa Supreme Court, na mahigit 100 pahina at mukhang matagal nang inihanda.

Ayon kay Justice committee chairperson Rep. Gerville Luistro, sinusunod nila ang desisyon ng SC mula noong unang bahagi ng taon na magbigay ng due process. "We are conducting clarificatory hearing... we are giving due process to the respondent," sabi niya.

Sa Davao, sinabi ni Duterte na hindi siya kinunsulta ng mga independent lawyers na naghain ng petisyon, pinangunahan ni Israelito Torreon. "They didn’t consult me... I’m grateful to the independent lawyers," aniya.

Sinabi naman ni Manila Rep. Joel Chua na nagpapatunay lamang ang petisyon na natatakot si Duterte sa Senate trial. Ayon kay Bicol Saro Rep. Terry Ridon, tumaas ang 51.5% distrust rating ni Duterte sa Pulse Asia survey dahil sa pag-iwas sa corruption allegations, lalo na confidential funds.

Mananatiling lalabanan ng committee ang proseso sa loob ng 60 session days, sabi ni Zamora, habang tinatawag ang pansin sa energy crisis.
