EU approves Arla merger with DMK Group

The EU Commission has approved Arla's merger with German dairy giant DMK Group. The merger is expected to take effect on Monday.

The approval came from the EU Commission on Thursday. The new cooperative will be named Arla and bring together 11,200 dairy farmers from seven countries.

The company will have 28,800 employees globally and a turnover of just over 20 billion euros, equivalent to 216 billion kronor.

”By joining forces we strengthen our financial resilience and our ability to invest in a food sector with reduced impact on climate and nature”, says Arla chairman Jan Toft Nørgaar in a press release.
