A 27-year-old woman faces charges including attempted homicide after driving her car into her ex-boyfriend at a Philadelphia car wash, authorities said. The incident on North Broad Street left the man injured and the woman's vehicle in flames. Video footage captured the altercation that escalated from a confrontation to violence.
On Wednesday, 42-year-old Moctar Elias was working at a car wash on North Broad Street in Philadelphia when his ex-girlfriend, Imani Walker, arrived in a Volkswagen Jetta and confronted him, according to NBC affiliate WCAU. The two argued, with Walker slapping a coffee cup from Elias' hand, leading to a physical fight on the ground. Witnesses approached as the scuffle unfolded. Video obtained by WCAU shows Walker then using a hammer to smash Elias' vehicle. Elias grabbed the hammer and swung it at her car, prompting her to reverse away before accelerating into him, crashing both into a nearby wall and shattering her windshield. A co-worker pulled Elias from under the vehicle as smoke rose from Walker's burning Jetta. Elias received treatment at a local hospital for neck and leg injuries. Walker, arrested days later, posted $75,000 bond. She faces charges of criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, accident involving personal injury, criminal mischief, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person, court records show. Elias told WCAU that nothing like this had happened before. 'We broke up, I don't know, maybe she [is going] through something,' he said. Walker is due back in court on April 24 for a preliminary hearing.
