Ilhabela seeks payment from 6,295 vehicles for unpaid fee

The Ilhabela city government is attempting to collect unpaid environmental preservation fees from nearly 6,300 vehicles that left the archipelago since March.

As of last Friday, 6,295 vehicles were in default and subject to a R$100 fine starting on the 31st day after passage. Since the fee began on March 31, a total of 164,319 vehicles have crossed the electronic gantries.

The system operates without physical booths, using plate or tag reading for payment via Pix, bank slip or app. Vehicles registered in Ilhabela and São Sebastião receive automatic exemptions.

The fee had been suspended earlier by the State Court of Accounts and resumed after a new tender. Collected funds will support environmental preservation, urban infrastructure and public services.
