Kyle Schwarber hits MLB-leading 30th home run in Phillies win

Kyle Schwarber hit his MLB-leading 30th home run to lift the Philadelphia Phillies to a 5-4 victory over the New York Mets on Sunday afternoon at Citi Field. The two-run blast in the seventh inning proved decisive in the Phillies' fourth straight series win.

Schwarber connected on a 1-2 fastball from Kodai Senga with one runner on base. The ball left his bat at 108.3 mph and traveled 408 feet to right-center field.

The homer came one day after teammate Bryce Harper hit a two-run shot. Schwarber reached the 30-homer mark in just 84 team games, the fastest pace for any Phillies player.

He is now on pace for 59 home runs this season, which would break Ryan Howard's franchise record of 58 set in 2006. Harper is on pace for 36.

Schwarber said after the game that reaching 30 homers early feels fortunate but is not something he focuses on. Interim manager Don Mattingly praised Schwarber's contribution, noting it was good to have him on the team.
