Coordinating minister Manuel Adorni announced he will attend the Senate on July 2 to deliver his management report. The move comes amid a censure motion driven by the opposition following controversies over his asset declaration.
Adorni sent a letter to Vice President Victoria Villarruel to confirm his presence in the Senate. The visit occurs while opposition legislators, including Peronist senators, advance a censure motion to remove him from the position of chief of staff.
José Mayans, head of the Justicialist bloc in the Senate, stated that Adorni “is practically a confessed tax evader”. The legislator noted that the official’s actions are classified as a crime under the National Constitution.
Deputies from various opposition blocs, such as Kirchnerism and Provincias Unidas, presented projects to question Adorni and discuss the censure motion. The mechanism requires an absolute majority in both chambers for approval.
Analysts such as Horacio Fazio and Carlos Maslatón questioned Adorni’s explanations regarding his assets and pointed out inconsistencies in his public statements.
