MANILA — Dalawang barko, ang Omicron Nikos at ang Russia-flagged superyacht Nord, ang ligtas na lumampas sa Strait of Hormuz noong Abril 25 pagkatapos na ma-strand sa Persian Gulf dahil sa nagpapatuloy na tensyon sa Gitnang Silangan, ayon sa Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

Kasama sa Nord, na may habang 142 metro at kaugnay sa Russian billionaire na si Alexei Mordashov, ang 36 Pilipinong seaman mula sa dalawang barko na ito. Dating nagsabi si Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac na mahigit 800 na Pilipino ang nailabas na gamit ang mga cruise ship noong Abril 18, nang pansamantalang ibinaba ng Iran ang mga restriksyon sa strait.

Gayunpaman, 15 Pilipinong seaman ang nananatili sa dalawang container ship—Epaminondas at Francesca—na nakumpiska ng mga puwersa ng Iran noong Abril 22. "Na-assure kami na lahat ng 15 Filipino seafarers ay safe, unharmed, at it will be a matter of time for their ships to be cleared," pahayag ni Cacdac.

Magpapatuloy ang DMW sa pagmomonitor ng mga galaw ng mga barko, koordinasyon sa mga manning agencies at shipowners, at komunikasyon sa mga pamilya upang mapanatili ang kaligtasan ng mga Pilipinong seaman.
