An extensive fire broke out in the night to Wednesday in a two-story house in Garpenberg. It is the fifth fire in the area in a short time and police are investigating the incident as suspected arson.
The alarm came shortly after midnight. A passerby discovered the fire and SOS Alarm dispatched rescue services and ambulance to the scene.
The house was completely destroyed but no person was inside the property. Rescue services worked on after-extinguishment during the morning hours.
Police have taken pictures at the scene and plan a technical examination. All previous fires have occurred at night in abandoned houses or summer cottages.
– With regard to the fact that it occurs in both geographic proximity and temporal proximity, it is clear that one looks at whether there is any connection between the fires, says Gabriel Henning, press spokesperson for the police.
