Örebro District Court today rejected Anders Gustavson's application to convert his life sentence into a fixed-term sentence.
Convicted murderer Anders Eklund, now known as Gustavson, had applied to have his life sentence converted. The district court announced the decision on 8 June 2026. In its ruling the court stated that there remains a very concrete and significant risk that Gustavson would reoffend in serious crime. This constitutes an absolute barrier to setting a fixed term. Gustavson is 60 years old and has been deprived of liberty since 7 April 2008. He was sentenced in 2008 to life imprisonment for the murders of Pernilla Hellgren and Engla Höglund.
