Palasyo nagpahintulot kay VP Sara Duterte na magbiyahe sa abroad mula Mayo 2-15

Nagbigay-pahintulot ang Malacañang kay Bise Presidente Sara Duterte na magbiyahe sa ibang bansa mula Mayo 2 hanggang 15. Kinumpirma ni Claire Castro, press officer ng Palasyo, sa text message noong nakaraang araw na pinayagan ni Pangulong Marcos si Duterte na magbiyahe mula Mayo 2 hanggang 15. Orihinal na plano niyang bumiyahe sa Netherlands, South Korea, Belgium, Germany at United Kingdom mula Abril 23 hanggang Mayo 15 habang "on leave of absence at no cost to the government."

Noong Abril 22, nagpadala ng liham si Executive Secretary Ralph Recto na nagpapahintulot sa mga biyahe, ngunit hindi ito itinuon ni Duterte dahil sa "uncertainty" kung papayagan siya. Ayon sa ulat ng Politiko, nag-file siya ng "very urgent" amendment upang i-reschedule ang petsa sa Mayo 2-15 habang pinapanatili ang itinerary.

Kung matutuloy ang biyahe, wala si Duterte sa Pilipinas noong Mayo 11, posibleng araw ng boto ng plenaryo ng Kamara sa impeachment complaint laban sa kanya. Ang pag-apruba ay nagmula pagkatapos makahanap ng probable cause ang House justice committee, na magdadala ng reklamo sa plenaryo para sa boto at posibleng trial sa Senado.

Nahaharap si Duterte sa mga reklamo kaugnay ng alegedong plano na patayin si Pangulong Marcos, Unang Ginang Liza Marcos at dating House Speaker Martin Romualdez, pati ang hindi tamang pagtatala ng confidential funds ng kanyang opisina.
