Peace call follows stabbing at Faza Mosque

Lamu County communities have renewed calls for peace and unity after a man was stabbed to death inside a mosque in Faza.

On May 13, Khalid Makka, aged 33, was attacked and stabbed during Dhuhr prayers at the Jamia Mosque in Faza, Lamu East. He died while being taken to hospital. Religious scholar Mahmoud Ahmed Abdulkadir said the killing violated international laws that prohibit violence in places of worship. He stated that society must end decay by preaching peace and unity. Abubakar Shekuwe, chairman of the Council of Imams and Preachers of Kenya Lamu branch, urged security agencies to ensure those involved in the crime face strict legal action. Lamu Youth Parliament president Nahida Kassim called on young people to observe discipline.
