Sinabi ng Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon na walang kinalaman ang pahayag ni Vice President Sara Duterte na tatakbo siya para sa pagkapangulo noong 2028 sa pagproseso ng House of Representatives sa apat na reklamo ng impeachment laban sa kanya. Ayon kay Ridon, nakatuon ang Kamara sa pagsusuri ng mga reklamo batay sa laman at anyo nito. Mag-uumpisa ang House committee on justice ng pagdinig bukas, Marso 2, 2026.
Noong Marso 1, 2026, inanunsyo ni Rep. Terry Ridon, chairman ng House committee on public accounts, na walang epekto ang ambisyon ni Vice President Sara Duterte para sa pagkapangulo noong 2028 sa pagtrato ng Kamara sa mga reklamo ng impeachment laban sa kanya. Ayon kay Ridon sa Saturday News Forum sa Quezon City, 'In my view, Vice President Sara Duterte’s declaration for president is irrelevant in the disposition of the House committee on justice and the House in general, specifically in her impeachment.'
Ipinahayag ito pagkatapos sabihin ng mga miyembro ng National Unity Party na mag-eexercise sila ng conscience vote at maghihintay ng ebidensya bago magdesisyon. Nagdulot ito ng haka-haka kung nakaimpluwensya ba ang maagang anunsiyo ni Duterte sa pulitikal na mood sa Kamara.
Apat na verified complaints ang isinampa laban kay Duterte, na nag-aakusa sa kanya ng culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption, bribery, at iba pang high crimes. Kasama sa mga alegasyon ang di-sapat na paglilinaw ng confidential and intelligence funds, pekeng dokumento, pagtanggi sa kooperasyon sa congressional inquiries, at di-maipaliwanag na yaman pati mga pagkukulang sa Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN).
Si Batangas 2nd district Rep. Gerville Luistro ang chairman ng House committee on justice na magde-deliberate bukas. Ayon kay Ridon, 'We will deliberate it, we will vote on it on those two points next week. If this will continue towards full proceedings after determination of substance, then we will see at the end of Justice (committee) deliberation proceedings in the coming Wednesday.'
Si Fr. Joel Saballa, isa sa mga complainant sa third impeachment complaint mula sa religious groups, ay naniniwala na tatayo sa sarili ang kanilang kaso. 'If the congressmen believe in what we presented last year, we will not have difficulties in getting support or votes from them because this is not politically motivated. This has substance, it has form,' sabi niya. Hinihikayat niya ang mga mambabatas na batayanin ang desisyon sa merits ng reklamo at hindi sa pulitikal na pagsasaalang-alang.
Si Duterte ay nag-anunsiyo ng kanyang plano noong Pebrero 18, 2026, bagamat ang eleksyon ay noong 2028 pa.
