Severe Tropical Storm Gardo exits PAR on Friday

Severe Tropical Storm Gardo is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday while the habagat continues to bring rain to parts of Luzon and the Visayas.

Gardo entered the PAR at 3 pm on June 25 as a Tropical Storm and intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm at 8 pm. According to PAGASA, the storm was located 1,280 kilometers east of extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 95 kph and gusts of up to 115 kph.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said it will possibly exit the PAR from morning until around noon on Friday after staying inside for only about 24 hours. No tropical cyclone wind signal has been hoisted anywhere in the country and it will not affect the Philippines.

The habagat is triggering occasional rains in Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro as well as in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon and the Visayas.
