Habagat weakens but thunderstorms expected across PH

The southwest monsoon has slightly weakened but is still forecast to bring thunderstorms nationwide on Wednesday according to PAGASA.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the habagat now affects only the western section of Northern Luzon. “We do not expect widespread rainfall over most parts of the country. Instead localized thunderstorms will be the primary cause of rain in many areas” PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez said. Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in the Ilocos region, Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon may see isolated rain showers or thunderstorms especially in the afternoon to evening. No low-pressure area was spotted in the Philippine area of responsibility.
