The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said generally fair weather with localized rain showers will prevail over much of the country through the weekend.
Weather specialist Obet Badrina issued the advisory at 5 a.m. on Friday. Fair conditions are expected to last until Sunday, though localized thunderstorms may affect parts of Luzon that afternoon.
The southwest monsoon, or habagat, is currently influencing extreme northern Luzon. It is forecast to bring gloomy skies and occasional rains to Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands on Friday, with scattered rain possible over Ilocos Region, Bataan, and Zambales by Sunday.
Badrina added that the monsoon’s reach may extend further across Luzon from Monday to Tuesday, affecting western sections of Central and Southern Luzon and parts of Western Visayas. A tropical depression located 2,965 kilometers east of Southeastern Mindanao has a low chance of entering the Philippine area of responsibility and is expected to weaken into a low-pressure area.
