Tamil Nadu will operate 11,323 buses from April 21 to the afternoon of April 23 for the 2026 Assembly elections. The decision came from a consultative meeting on Tuesday at the Secretariat, chaired by Chief Secretary M. Saikumar. It includes regular services from Chennai and special buses over the three days.
A total of 11,323 buses will run from April 21 until the afternoon of April 23, according to a Transport Department press release. This includes 2,092 regular daily services originating from Chennai and 6,234 special buses across the three days.
Chief Secretary M. Saikumar chaired a consultative meeting on Tuesday at the Secretariat to discuss special arrangements for the polls. The 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are scheduled for Thursday.
These buses aim to ensure smooth transportation during the voting process.
