Une coalition de groupes d'éducation et de militants a distribué un guide de 36 pages encourageant les élèves de la maternelle à la terminale à organiser des débrayages scolaires et d'autres actions perturbatrices. La boîte à outils a été obtenue par le groupe de surveillance Defending Education.

Le document, intitulé « Direct Action Training: School Walkouts » (Formation à l'action directe : débrayages scolaires), a été produit par l'Alliance for Educational Justice. Il a été partagé lors de webinaires liés à l'Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools, qui comprend la National Education Association et d'autres organisations. Selon les documents sources, le financement de groupes connexes provient de fondations telles que la Ford Foundation et l'Open Society Foundations.
