Le porte-parole du gouvernement, Patrick Muyaya, a déclaré lors d'une interview à la BBC que la RDC était en pourparlers avec les autorités américaines depuis le début de l'épidémie. Il a souligné les succès passés du pays, notamment la maîtrise d'une épidémie au Kasaï en six semaines.

La Haute Cour du Kenya a émis vendredi des ordonnances suspendant toute installation de traitement ou d'exposition au virus Ebola liée à ce projet. La décision fait suite à une pétition de l'Institut Katiba invoquant des préoccupations en matière de santé et de sécurité.

Les autorités américaines ont confirmé être au courant de la procédure et poursuivre leurs discussions avec les autorités kényanes. Les législateurs du comté de Laikipia ont également rejeté la proposition, appelant à se concentrer plutôt sur le confinement en RDC.
