Eric Omondi remis en liberté sous caution de 100 000 shillings

L'humoriste et militant Eric Omondi a été remis en liberté lundi par le tribunal de Milimani à Nairobi après avoir passé le week-end en détention.

Omondi a été arrêté le vendredi 5 juin 2026, peu après son arrivée à l'aéroport international Jomo Kenyatta. Il fait face à des accusations d'obstruction à la circulation des automobilistes sur Kimathi Street le 18 mai 2026, pour avoir déchargé 120 bidons en plastique vides depuis un camion. Son équipe juridique, dirigée par le député Babu Owino, a qualifié les charges d'infondées et a déclaré que l'arrestation violait ses droits constitutionnels. La police du commissariat de Lang'ata lui avait refusé la liberté sous caution durant le week-end. Le tribunal l'a remis en liberté moyennant une caution personnelle de 100 000 shillings. L'affaire sera réexaminée par le tribunal le 22 juin.
