L'artiste tanzanien Matonya libéré sous caution de la prison de Shimo la Tewa

L'artiste tanzanien de Bongo Flava, Sefu Shabani Ramadhan, connu sous le nom de Matonya, a été libéré sous caution de la prison de Shimo la Tewa après plus de 20 jours de détention pour des accusations de viol. Il a retrouvé la liberté mardi soir après avoir rempli les conditions fixées par le tribunal de Shanzu. L'affaire sera réexaminée le 30 avril.

Matonya a été inculpé le 9 avril pour viol, en violation de la loi, à la suite d'allégations concernant des faits survenus le 7 avril dans une maison à Nyali, dans le comté de Mombasa. Il fait face à un chef d'accusation alternatif pour attentat à la pudeur sur un adulte. Le tribunal de Shanzu a accordé une caution de 500 000 shillings, mais a refusé l'option d'un paiement en espèces en raison de son statut de non-Kényan.

Les conditions exigeaient qu'il remette son passeport et lui interdisaient de quitter le Kenya sans l'approbation du tribunal. Le tribunal a ordonné aux services de l'immigration d'émettre un avis l'empêchant de quitter le pays.

Rashid Naaman, qui a suivi la procédure de libération sous caution, a confirmé sa remise en liberté mardi soir après avoir soumis les documents requis, y compris des lettres scellées des services d'immigration. Il a fallu plus de trois semaines pour trouver une caution kényane et accomplir toutes les démarches nécessaires.
