Oupa Sindane a l'intention de plaider non coupable des accusations d'extorsion

L'homme d'affaires et propriétaire de taxis Oupa Sindane déclare qu'il prévoit de plaider non coupable des accusations d'extorsion et de blanchiment d'argent. Il demande sa remise en liberté sous caution devant le tribunal de première instance de Kwaggafontein, à l'est de Johannesburg, en compagnie de trois coaccusés.

Âgé de 50 ans, Sindane s'est rendu à la police vendredi matin. L'accusation soutient qu'il tentait de fuir mais qu'il n'a eu d'autre choix que de se rendre. Son équipe de défense fait valoir qu'il s'est rendu volontairement et qu'il ignorait qu'il était recherché.

Sindane a déclaré au tribunal que le maintien en détention nuirait à ses activités et à ses employés. Lui et ses coaccusés, Joe Sibanyoni, Daniel Masilela et Phillimon Msiza, nient tous toute implication dans les crimes allégués.

L'audience sur la demande de mise en liberté sous caution se poursuit devant le tribunal.
