Une ancienne détenue allègue que Mackenzie Shirilla a continué à gagner de l'argent derrière les barreaux en confectionnant des bijoux et d'autres objets. Ces affirmations surviennent des années après la condamnation de Shirilla en 2023 pour un accident mortel.

Kat Crowder, qui a passé six mois au centre pénitentiaire pour femmes de l'Ohio avec Shirilla, a déclaré à TMZ que cette dernière utilisait un kit de loisirs créatifs pour fabriquer des bijoux, notamment des anneaux de nez, des bracelets et des chaussures personnalisées. Crowder a précisé que les paiements étaient effectués via Cash App et a fait référence à cette activité en utilisant un terme d'argot carcéral associé aux sites de "sugar daddy", bien qu'elle ait clarifié qu'il ne s'agissait pas du sens littéral.
