Madlanga autorise un témoignage par liaison audio pour le lieutenant-colonel Duma

Le juge Mbuyiseli Madlanga a statué le 1er juin 2026 que le lieutenant-colonel Duma peut témoigner via une liaison audio, son nom étant rendu public mais son identité protégée.

Cette décision fait suite à une requête déposée par Duma le 8 mai 2026, dans laquelle il exprimait la crainte qu'une exposition publique totale puisse le mettre, lui ou sa famille, en danger. Le Daily Maverick et Media24 se sont opposés à une demande d'audience entièrement à huis clos, plaidant pour une transparence maximale compatible avec la sécurité du témoin.

Madlanga a déclaré que cet arrangement permettait d'équilibrer les préoccupations liées à la sécurité et le besoin d'accès du public aux preuves. Il a affirmé que ce compromis garantit que la justice est rendue tout en protégeant l'agent sous couverture.

Duma doit témoigner le 2 juin 2026 concernant le vol de cocaïne d'une valeur de 200 millions de rands dans un bâtiment des Hawks au KwaZulu-Natal. Les médias ne sont pas autorisés à publier d'images révélant son visage. La commission Madlanga a été créée en juillet 2025 pour enquêter sur la corruption et l'infiltration criminelle au sein des forces de l'ordre.
