Des scientifiques de la NASA ont observé un sursaut radio solaire qui a duré 19 jours en août 2025, dépassant largement le précédent record de cinq jours. L'événement a été suivi à l'aide de plusieurs engins spatiaux à travers le système solaire et lié à un jet de casque sur le Soleil.

Le signal prolongé a été identifié comme un sursaut radio de type IV, généré par des électrons énergétiques piégés dans les champs magnétiques du Soleil. Les chercheurs ont combiné les données des missions STEREO, Parker Solar Probe et Wind de la NASA, ainsi que de la mission Solar Orbiter de l'ESA et de la NASA, pour suivre le sursaut au fur et à mesure de la rotation du Soleil.
