رصد علماء وكالة ناسا انفجاراً راديوياً شمسياً استمر 19 يوماً في أغسطس 2025، متجاوزاً بذلك الرقم القياسي السابق البالغ خمسة أيام. تم تتبع هذه الظاهرة باستخدام مركبات فضائية متعددة عبر النظام الشمسي، وربطها بهيكل إكليلي (helmet streamer) على سطح الشمس.

تم تحديد الإشارة المطولة على أنها انفجار راديوي من النوع الرابع، ناتج عن إلكترونات عالية الطاقة محتجزة في المجالات المغناطيسية للشمس. وقد دمج الباحثون بيانات من مهام ناسا ستيريو (STEREO)، ومسبار باركر الشمسي (Parker Solar Probe)، ومركبة ويند (Wind)، بالإضافة إلى مهمة سولار أوربيتر (Solar Orbiter) التابعة لوكالة الفضاء الأوروبية وناسا، لمتابعة الانفجار أثناء دوران الشمس.
