Noelia Castillo, une habitante de Barcelone de 25 ans devenue paraplégique, a annoncé sur Antena 3 qu'elle recevra l'euthanasie ce jeudi 26 mars. Cette annonce intervient le jour même où la Cour européenne des droits de l'homme (CEDH) a rejeté le dernier recours en référé déposé par son père, Gerónimo Castillo, représenté par Abogados Cristianos.

Noelia Castillo, âgée de 25 ans et paraplégique depuis une tentative de suicide en octobre 2022 suite à une agression sexuelle multiple, a demandé l'euthanasie en avril 2024. La Commission de garantie et d'évaluation de Catalogne (CGAC) l'a approuvée à l'unanimité le 18 juillet 2024, estimant qu'elle remplissait les conditions prévues par la loi : une situation clinique irrécupérable avec une dépendance sévère, ainsi que des douleurs et des souffrances chroniques.
