Les courts en terre battue de Roland-Garros sont composés de cinq couches spécifiques

La surface rouge de Roland-Garros est constituée de plusieurs couches situées sous la poussière de brique visible. Cette construction est restée inchangée depuis des décennies aux Internationaux de France.

Les courts disposent d'une base de drainage recouverte d'une couche de 30 cm de gravier concassé. Au-dessus se trouve une couche de 7 à 8 cm de mâchefer, suivie de 6 à 7 cm de calcaire concassé et d'une couche finale de 1 à 2 mm de poussière de brique qui produit la couleur rouge caractéristique.
