La SPCA du Cap-Occidental se prépare à une alerte météo de niveau 8

La SPCA du Cap-Occidental est en état d'alerte maximale alors qu'une alerte météo orange de niveau 8 prend effet de dimanche à mardi, entraînant des préparatifs pour secourir les animaux menacés par les inondations.

La Société pour la prévention de la cruauté envers les animaux (SPCA) du Cap-Occidental a mobilisé ses premiers intervenants. Les véhicules sont en train d'être chargés de cages de transport pour animaux, de couvertures, de nourriture et de fournitures d'urgence.

La porte-parole Belinda Abraham a déclaré que l'organisation travaillait en étroite collaboration avec les équipes de gestion des catastrophes. Elle interviendra depuis le Centre d'opérations conjoint si les inondations s'aggravent.

« Nous demandons à chaque habitant du Cap de prendre les alertes météo au sérieux », a déclaré Mme Abraham. Elle a exhorté les résidents à rentrer les animaux à l'intérieur, à s'assurer que les niches sont imperméables et surélevées, et à déplacer les chevaux ou les animaux de ferme vers des terrains plus élevés si les inondations deviennent imminentes. Le Service météorologique sud-africain a émis l'alerte pour des pluies perturbatrices sur l'ensemble du Cap-Occidental, valable du 10 au 12 mai 2026.
