SPCA de Western Cape prepara-se para alerta meteorológico de nível 8

A SPCA de Western Cape está em alerta máximo com a entrada em vigor de um aviso meteorológico de nível 8 (laranja) de domingo a terça-feira, o que levou à mobilização de esforços para ajudar animais em risco de inundações.

A Sociedade para a Prevenção da Crueldade contra os Animais em Western Cape mobilizou suas equipes de resposta inicial. Veículos estão sendo carregados com caixas de transporte, cobertores, alimentos e suprimentos de emergência.

A porta-voz Belinda Abraham afirmou que a organização está trabalhando em estreita colaboração com as equipes de gestão de desastres. O grupo responderá a partir do Centro de Operações Conjuntas caso as inundações se agravem.

"Precisamos que todos os habitantes da Cidade do Cabo levem os alertas meteorológicos a sério", disse Abraham. Ela recomendou que os moradores mantenham os animais dentro de casa, garantam que as casinhas estejam impermeabilizadas e elevadas, e levem cavalos ou animais de fazenda para terrenos mais altos caso a inundação se torne iminente. O Serviço Meteorológico da África do Sul emitiu o alerta para chuvas intensas em toda a região de Western Cape, válido de 10 a 12 de maio de 2026.
