Seis escolas permanecem fechadas em Western Cape após danos causados por tempestade

O Departamento de Educação de Western Cape informa que seis escolas permanecem fechadas nos distritos de Eden e Central Karoo devido aos danos causados por tempestades recentes. O Secretário de Educação de Western Cape, David Maynier, relatou que 64 escolas apresentam danos significativos à infraestrutura e que o departamento está preocupado com as implicações financeiras.

Tempestades recentes trouxeram inundações e ventos destrutivos que afetaram partes de Western Cape. Seis escolas no distrito de Eden e Central Karoo permanecem fechadas principalmente porque as estradas ao redor foram levadas pela água ou danificadas, limitando o acesso de alunos e funcionários.

Maynier explicou a situação em um comunicado. "A tempestade foi, naturalmente, devastadora. Atualmente, temos seis escolas fechadas – essas escolas estão no distrito de Eden e Central Karoo. Felizmente, conseguimos abrir todas as escolas no distrito de Cape Winelands", disse ele.

As escolas nas áreas afetadas perderam até 13 dias de aprendizado. O departamento está trabalhando com os distritos para oferecer programas de recuperação, como aulas extras, transmissão online ou locais alternativos, para que os alunos não sejam prejudicados.
