Brauerei Wolters in Braunschweig has filed for self-administered insolvency. Persistent sales weakness and rising costs are the reasons. The operation is to be restructured.
Hofbrauhaus Wolters GmbH announced that the application was filed at the Amtsgericht Braunschweig. The goal is to fundamentally restructure the business operations and set up the company economically anew.
Despite the filing, operations continue. Wages and salaries of the entire workforce are secured. In self-administered insolvency, the management remains in office while a court-appointed administrator oversees the proceedings.
The brewery has belonged to Volksbank Brawo since 2021. The German beer market shrank last year to 7.8 billion liters, six percent below the previous year.
