A young man drowned in Larslunda swimming pool in Strängnäs in early June. The municipality has investigated the incident and decided to strengthen safety routines.
The young man drowned on a Wednesday in June despite receiving CPR. The investigation showed that staff and visitors acted quickly and that no deficiencies in the routines could be established.
Strängnäs Municipality will nevertheless develop the surveillance assignment, change the routine for lifeguards leaving the pool and practice the alarm chain. Clearer marking of alarm buttons and purchase of defibrillators are other measures decided.
Municipal director Lars Ekström said the event is extremely tragic. He stressed that safety is of the highest priority.
Witnesses have stated that no staff were visible and that the mobile phone ban made it difficult to raise the alarm. The mobile phone ban remains despite the criticism.
