Red Bull driver Isack Hadjar will start this weekend's Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix from the back of the grid at Spa-Francorchamps after taking his fifth power unit of the 2026 season.
Hadjar has been given a fifth internal combustion engine, turbocharger and exhaust system. This exceeds the season's maximum allowance of four, resulting in a penalty that converts to a back-of-the-grid start in 22nd position on Sunday.
Hadjar spoke on Thursday about the impact on his recent form. "This weekend, I think another top-six finish is going to be difficult given where I'm starting from, but we'll give it a go," he told Canal+. "The main focus will be on race pace. We'll probably start 22nd on the grid, but Spa is a track where you can overtake."
Team-mate Max Verstappen also received new components but remains within limits. Lando Norris moves to the back of the grid after taking his fifth battery. Lance Stroll receives a 10-place penalty for a new Honda MGU-K and is expected to start 21st.
