Minnesota woman charged with vehicular homicide in fatal hit-and-run

Gabryella Liebgott faces three counts of vehicular homicide after allegedly striking and killing pedestrian Seham Hassen in St. Paul on March 22. Police say Liebgott attempted to conceal damage to her Infiniti G35 by seeking vinyl wrapping before repairs. Friends urged her to turn herself in, but she accelerated away from the scene.

On March 22 around 3 a.m., Seham Hassen, a 22-year-old University of St. Thomas student nearing graduation, was hit by a speeding car while crossing the street with friends in St. Paul, Minnesota. According to the probable cause statement, the impact tore remnants of her clothing from her body, scattering them in the street, and ripped off the vehicle's side mirror. Video from a nearby Tesla captured Hassen attempting to dodge the Infiniti G35, which struck her onto the windshield before she fell underneath and was run over; the car then fled without stopping. Hassen died at the hospital from her injuries. Hennepin County Sheriff's Office investigators linked the car, registered to 22-year-old Gabryella Liebgott, after it was dropped at a vinyl wrapping shop on March 23. The shop owner noted the unusual request to wrap the vehicle before repairs and store it. A woman named 'Gabby' left it with a phone number but never returned. Inspection revealed damage matching the crash video, plus blood and fibers from Hassen's dress. Liebgott had been drinking with friends at a VFW hall earlier, with her ID scanned at 1 a.m. and the group leaving around 2 a.m.; her car was seen speeding and swerving. The front passenger recalled striking something hard and seeing white fabric on the windshield, while the backseat passenger confirmed Liebgott acknowledged the hit and missing mirror but chose to speed off despite considering a stop. Both friends and others pressed her to surrender. Liebgott was arrested April 3 and held at Hennepin County Jail on $150,000 bail, with her first court appearance scheduled for Tuesday.
