Mpf opens investigation into Lula government's climate omission

Brazil's Federal Public Ministry has opened an inquiry into the Lula government's climate emergency omissions and alleged irregularities in funds for COP 30 preparations.

The procedure examines the impacts of federal inaction on fundamental rights of vulnerable groups, including health, housing and education.

The MPF is also probing supposed irregularities in the application of federal resources for UN conference works carried out by the Pará state government.

The inquiry combines scrutiny of fund deviations with climate policy shortcomings.
