Huduma Kenya to roll out customer service excellence standard

Huduma Kenya has announced plans to fast-track the rollout of its Customer Service Excellence Standard across public institutions to enhance efficiency and accountability. Chief Executive Officer Ben Kai Chilumo stated that the standard will transform interactions between citizens and government services.

Huduma Kenya announced on March 27, 2026, plans to accelerate the rollout of the Huduma Kenya Customer Service Excellence Standard across public service institutions. The announcement came at the 5th Regional Quality Conference in Mombasa, where leaders and service experts discussed innovations in public service delivery.

"The Standard, once rolled out across government agencies, will streamline service delivery, improve customer experience, and build trust in public institutions," the announcement stated.

Huduma Kenya Chief Executive Officer Ben Kai Chilumo said the initiative goes beyond quality benchmarks to transform how citizens interact with government services. The standard addresses longstanding issues such as long waiting times, delays in issuing documents and permits, poor administration, unprofessionalism, rudeness, and corruption involving solicited bribes.

According to Chilumo, its implementation will reduce delays, boost transparency, and restore public trust. It builds on Huduma Kenya's prior efforts to standardize government services nationwide and ensure predictable turnaround times, making services faster and more citizen-focused.
