Renu Bhatia resigned as chairperson of the Haryana State Commission for Women on June 10 following protests by nursing staff over her remarks at a hospital in Kurukshetra.
Renu Bhatia submitted her resignation in a letter to the Chief Minister. She stated that she had served as chairperson for over four years with honesty and dedication. The resignation came after nursing officers protested her comments made during an inspection on June 7 at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Civil Hospital in Kurukshetra. The Nursing Officers Welfare Association Haryana had threatened strikes on June 10 and June 11. Her tenure included other controversies, such as a police complaint against Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad and actions regarding a song by rapper Badshah.
