Renu Bhatia a démissionné de son poste de présidente de la Commission d'État pour les femmes de l'Haryana le 10 juin, suite aux protestations du personnel infirmier concernant ses remarques dans un hôpital de Kurukshetra.

Cette démission intervient après que les agents infirmiers ont protesté contre ses commentaires formulés lors d'une inspection le 7 juin au Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Civil Hospital de Kurukshetra. La Nursing Officers Welfare Association Haryana avait menacé d'organiser des grèves les 10 et 11 juin. Son mandat a été marqué par d'autres controverses, notamment une plainte déposée contre Ali Khan Mahmudabad, professeur à l'Université d'Ashoka, et des actions concernant une chanson du rappeur Badshah.
