Ethiopia Federal Police and IGAD sign regional security cooperation agreement

Ethiopia's Federal Police and IGAD have signed a strategic agreement on regional security cooperation.

Addis Ababa, on Hamle 2 2018, Ethiopia Federal Police Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael and IGAD Executive Secretary Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu signed the agreement.

The agreement aims to strengthen law enforcement through training, research and joint studies using the Ethiopian Police University. Commissioner General Demelash Gebremichael said the agreement will allow Ethiopia's police to share the capacity and experience gained from reform with IGAD member states.

IGAD Executive Secretary Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu praised the major changes and progress shown by Ethiopia's Federal Police. University President Dr. Tamrat Mulugeta stated that the agreement will make a significant contribution to empowering the region's security forces, providing joint training and updating information exchange.
