PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) expressed deep condolences over the collision between a Commuter Line train and KA Argo Bromo Anggrek at Bekasi Timur Station on April 27, 2026, which killed 16 people and injured dozens more.
On April 29, KAI CEO Bobby Rasyidin, Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, and Director General of Railways Allan Tandiono paid condolences at victims' homes in Cikarang Timur and Tambun. They visited the families of the late Nurlaela, Arinjani Novita Sari, and Nur Ainia Eka Rahmadhyna, handing over compensation of Rp 35 million for fatalities and Rp 15 million for the injured.
Bobby Rasyidin said, “We convey our deepest condolences and utmost apologies to all victims' families. The investigation process is ongoing with related parties.” Hary Marwata, father of Nur Ainia Eka Rahmadhyna, hoped the cause would be revealed soon.
KAI confirmed services at Bekasi Timur Station resumed gradually from April 29, with long-distance trains recovering on April 30. By April 29, 13,027 tickets had been fully refunded. KNKT is testing the signaling system, while police plan a case review next week, focusing on the Green SM electric taxi driver and crossing infrastructure.
