Naked launches ChatGPT app for binding car insurance quotes

South African digital insurer Naked has launched a ChatGPT app that generates final, binding car insurance quotes inside the chatbot.

Naked Insurance says the new app represents a global first for motor insurance by connecting directly to its live underwriting engine. Customers can obtain a complete quote through conversational interactions without rigid forms, covering comprehensive and third-party options.

Co-founder Alex Thomson described the launch as exploratory, noting that the website and app remain the preferred channels for users. The process takes under five minutes via ChatGPT compared to under 90 seconds on Naked's own platforms.

Privacy measures direct users to a secure Naked page for sensitive details such as ID numbers, with all data confirmed by the customer before finalization. Thomson emphasized that responsibility for confirmed information rests with the client and clarified that ChatGPT acts only as a personal assistant, not a regulated adviser.
